It might be helpful to include a very brief description in ALT text, at least when it has a word limit. Videos will still need image descriptions and probably transcripts for maximum accessibility for the D/deaf and so people using screen-readers can keep track of what image description happens when as they watch the video. The text box was also cramped and impossible to scroll through once I typed something. It may not be useful for very detailed pictures. I was able to fit the image description below the picture into the ALT text box, but I had to write it a few times. However, you’re correct in that it still has limitations. Perhaps what you heard about it not working with some screen-readers has since been fixed. So far, it works with my screen-reader and is relatively easy to add to pictures and GIFs.
